Skate...Rock...Community

Photobucket
Skate. Rock. Community.

Those are the values at the core of the Kingston Sk8 Rollick, powered by the motivating force of indpendence.
Kids of all ages are invited to come out and skate, the day after Independence Day. Spend the whole day at the park, call it Independence Day extended. Registration is at 11 a.m. Skaters compete in three different classes — rookie, inetermediate and advanced — in a single run freestyle format. $5 to compete, free to attend. Bring a helmet. Winners take home prizes from: Snowboard Connection, Poulsbo’s Bayside Engravers, Impact Skateboards in Port Orchard, the Kitsap Board Shop and more.
The judges panel is comprised, again this year of the dudes who helped get the Kingsotn Skate Park built back in 2000 when they were just kids in Kingston, along with a few special guests.

During and following the competition there will be live music — punk, ska, hip hop, rock... possibly... hopefully some impromptu harmonica jams, banjo playing or bagpipes.
Bremerton bands Legends on Heroin and Triple Forte are joined by Seattle hip hop from Abadawn and Third Eye Theory along with Kingston’s own Can’t Hardly Wait and Black Beat Blue.

Skateboarding from noon until four, music from then until sundown.

With regard to concessions, it’s a DIY kind of thing. BYO-whatever. We just want to bring everyone together, bring everyone out to Kingston. Keep it clean. No drugs. No guns. No Fighting. But bring a lunch if you’d like. There’s also a few killer places to grub and swill in Kingston within walking distance. Hopeully there will be a few barbecuers or tailgators there in the parking lot.
It’s all about the community.
It's all about coming together over a common cause, giving the kids something to do and giving everyone a place to go.

United by independence and individuality.
